19:11 (IST)
As expected, it was not an easy chase but Kolkata have managed to cross the line in 18.2 overs with three wickets to spare. Two big overs in the middle have done the damage to Delhi. KKR's victory is a big boost to the playoff hopes. Gill, Rana and Narine scoring valuable runs.
19:09 (IST)
That's it. Rana finishes the match with a boundary. He makes room and cuts it, Rabada dives to his left at third man but he can't pull off the catch.
KKR win by three wickets.
19:07 (IST)
After 18 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 126/7 ( Nitish Rana 32 , Lockie Ferguson 0)
Tim Southee is the new batsman. Avesh bowls a bouncer, Southee goes for it, gets a top edge and it falls safely behind square. Two taken and then Southee is off the strike with a quick single down mid-off. Rana also takes a single with a push towards mid-off. Avesh finishes the over with a wicket but KKR need just two runs now.
19:06 (IST)
Bowled!

19:02 (IST)
After 17 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 122/6 ( Nitish Rana 31 , Tim Southee 0)
Nortje into the attack. He starts off with two dot balls and then bowls a full toss. Narine doesn't take advantage of it as he hits it towards mid-wicket fielder for one. Looks like Rishabh Pant is in pain. He fails to collect the ball cleanly behind the stumps as Rana gets beaten. The physio is out and takes a lot at the finger but he's good to continue. Nortje gets rid of Narine and finishes the over with a dot.
19:00 (IST)
Back of a length ball by Nortje, Narine's thick edge sends the ball into the hands of the fielder at cover. Narine c Axar b Nortje 21(10)
18:53 (IST)
After 16 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 119/5 ( Nitish Rana 31 , Sunil Narine 20)
Narine takes the game away from Delhi. They needed Rabada to contain the runs and maybe pick up a wicket but he ends up conceding 21 runs. Ordinary balls and rightly punished by Narine. KKR need just nine from 24 balls. Timeout taken.
18:53 (IST)
Another six! Length ball and easy pickings for Narine who clears the square boundary.
18:50 (IST)
Short again by Rabada, Narine pulls and finds the gap on the leg-side. Costly runs.

A 20-run over is followed by a two runs one plus a wicket. Superb over by Avesh Khan. The equation is now back to six per over as Kolkata need 30 runs in 30 balls. Sunil Narine is the new man in after Karthik's dismissal.
18:43 (IST)
Chopped on!
Karthik tries to push it towards off-side but the ball takes an inside edge and crashes onto the stumps. Karthik b Avesh Khan 12(14)

Just the over KKR needed. Rana connects two big hits and he scores 12 off two balls. A 94 metres six and he follows it up with a 87 metres hit. Karthik also gets a boundary so that makes it 20 runs off this over. The required run-rate is now 5.3.
18:39 (IST)
Karthik gets a boundary. He slices hard, gets an outside edge and the ball runs to the rope.
18:37 (IST)

18:35 (IST)
After 13 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 76/4 ( Nitish Rana 14 , Dinesh Karthik (W) 7)
Rabada continues. Rana is off the strike with a single towards square-leg. Karthik then plays a lovely cover drive into the gap but Steve Smith cuts it off before it reached the boundary. Four off the edge and a dot to end the over. Seven off it. It's getting very interesting.
18:33 (IST)
Karthik slices, gets a thick edge and the ball runs to the third man boundary
18:31 (IST)
After 12 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 69/4 ( Nitish Rana 13 , Dinesh Karthik (W) 1)
This pitch will make the chase of a modest target interesting so Delhi needed to bowl well and they are doing it. Ashwin finishes his quota of overs, giving away only 24 runs and with a wicket to his name. Dinesh Karthik is the new batsman as KKR need another 59 runs in 48 balls.

18:25 (IST)
After 11 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 67/3 ( Nitish Rana 12 , Eoin Morgan (C) 0)
Kagiso Rabada for the first time today and he starts with a dot. The next ball is a slower one, pitched up as Gill knocks it towards mid-off. The pacer then goes for the yorker, Gill blocks it. The final ball fetches him a wicket. Slow and short as Gill sends the ball into the hands of long-on fielder. A superb over from a world class pacer.
18:24 (IST)
Gill, frustrated with five dots, charges ahead and tries to clear the long-on fielder. He fails. Shubman Gill c Shreyas Iyer b Rabada 30(33)
18:20 (IST)
After 10 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 67/2 ( Shubman Gill 30 , Nitish Rana 12)
Lalit Yadav to Gill, the first ball is bit wide and full. Gill pushes it towards deep midwicket for one run. Rana then gets a thick outside edge on his cut and the ball is over backward point but not enough to run to the boundary. Two runs for the batsman. Rana then misses his reverse-sweep and there's an appeal for LBW but this is not close. Two more runs in the penultimate ball and a dot to end the over.
18:14 (IST)
After 9 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 62/2 ( Shubman Gill 29 , Nitish Rana 8)
Ashwin to Rana. An attempted reverse-sweep in the first ball but the batsman misses. Rana then goes for the scoop but there's protection in the deep so just one run. Four singles from five balls but Ashwin strays down the leg for the final delivery and concedes a boundary. Timeout now.
18:12 (IST)
Bad ball by Ashwin as he drifts down the leg-side. Rana picks it up and sends it through fine-leg for a boundary.
18:09 (IST)
After 8 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 54/2 ( Shubman Gill 27 , Nitish Rana 2)
Axar Patel to bowl. This is good bowling as he concedes just two from five balls. He will want to finish good and he does it. Gill tries to pierce the off-side field with a reverse-sweep but he hits straight to the fielder. KKR need 74 runs in 72 balls.
18:07 (IST)
After 7 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 52/2 ( Shubman Gill 26 , Nitish Rana 1)
Ashwin into the attack. Rana is off the mark with a single down long-on. The over was going good with one run from three balls but then Gill gets a maximum with a gutsy shot over long-on. He didn't get great connection but it is good enough to beat the diving Smith. Eight off the over.
18:05 (IST)
Gill takes on the fielder at long-on and just manages to clear him. Smith dives and gets his fingers to the ball but that's a very, very tough chance.
18:04 (IST)
After 6 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 44/2 ( Shubman Gill 19 , Nitish Rana 0)
Avesh Khan completes the powerplay and it's a good over. After the boundary, Gill steps up again and pulls it towards deep mid-wicket but this time there's the fielder near boundary so just a single. In the next ball, Avesh removes Tripathi with a clever change of pace. Nitish Rana is the new batsman.
18:01 (IST)
Gone!
Slow delivery, Avesh pitches it up as Tripathi tries to beat the mid-off fielder with a chip but fails. Good catch by Steve Smith. Tripathi c Smith b Avesh Khan 9(5)
17:58 (IST)
Gill steps up and hoicks the ball to the vacant deep mid-wicket region. Top shot!
17:57 (IST)
After 5 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 36/1 ( Shubman Gill 13 , Rahul Tripathi 8)
Lalit Yadav has the ball now. Starts off with a short-pitched delivery, Venkatesh tries to whacks it but gets an inside edge and it's over the stumps. Lalit later provides the breakthrough with the wicket of Venkatesh who misses his shot as the ball skids through after pitching. After the wicket, he bowls a poor ball and Tripathi says thank you with a six. 10 off the over plus a wicket.
17:54 (IST)
Short by Lalit Yadav, Rahul Tripathi is off the mark with a six over deep square leg.
17:54 (IST)
Bowled!
Lalit Yadav strikes the first blow. Venkatesh Iyer walks back to the pavilion after missing his flick shot. Venkatesh Iyer b Lalit Yadav 14(15)
17:51 (IST)
After 4 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 26/0 ( Shubman Gill 12 , Venkatesh Iyer 13)
Axar Patel continues. A mild LBW appeal against Venkatesh Iyer who misses his sweep but the umpire is not interested. Just four singles in the over but Kolkata won't mind. The current run rate is 6.5 and the required run rate is 6.3.
17:48 (IST)
After 3 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 22/0 ( Shubman Gill 10 , Venkatesh Iyer 11)
Ravichandran Ashwin is up next. Nicely done by the batsmen as they take three singles from the first three balls. Venkatesh then tries an audacious reverse-sweep and misses it against one of the best bowlers in the world. A wide and then a push by Venkatesh towards mid-wicket for two runs. Another attempt on reverse-sweep but he doesn't get the connection right again.
17:44 (IST)
After 2 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 16/0 ( Shubman Gill 8 , Venkatesh Iyer 8)
As expected, DC skipper Rishabh Pant introduces spinner early on but it doesn't go as per the plan. Gill smashes a six straight down the ground and then was content to play out the over. Seven off the over.
17:42 (IST)
Played! Axar bowls the second over. Gill takes a few steps forward and clears the straight boundary.
17:41 (IST)
After 1 overs,Kolkata Knight Riders 9/0 ( Shubman Gill 1 , Venkatesh Iyer 8)
Nortje starts off with back of a length ball on off-stump, Gill knocks it to mid-on and takes a single. Two good-looking drives by Venkatesh but they are straight to the fielders on the off-side. The third drive is in the gap and it fetches him four runs. One more boundary on the leg-side and a dot to end the over. For the final ball, Venkatesh steps up and swings hard but misses the ball. Not needed.
17:39 (IST)
This time Venkatesh goes for the pull and gets another boundary.
17:38 (IST)
Wow! Venkatesh finds the gap in the cover region with his sublime drive.
17:37 (IST)
The slow nature of the Sharjah pitch might make the chase interesting but Delhi need to bowl really well. So, time for the second innings. Shubman Gill is on strike and Venkatesh Iyer is on the other end. Anrich Nortje to start the proceedings.
17:27 (IST)
KKR need 128 to win!
Kolkata bowlers have done very well on a pitch that has very little to offer to the batsmen. DC failed to maximise the powerplay when the ball was hard and then struggled for boundaries throughout the innings. Pant was out there for 36 balls but only scored 39. In a day game, the strip should not change much during the second innings but KKR have the advantage of having a target in front of them. We will be back soon with second innings updates...
17:25 (IST)
After 20 overs,Delhi Capitals 127/9 ( Kagiso Rabada 0 , )
What an eventful end to the innings. Three wickets from the over and only seven runs for DC. Delhi were looking for a strong finish but the pitch didn't allow any of it. Ashwin got out on the first ball trying to play a pull shot to square leg. Pant got run out trying to take a double after a drive to longon. Avesh Khan got run out on the last ball after getting a boundary at deep midwicket where he was dropped by Gill. 127/9 looks not much but this pitch doesn't really have a lot to offer.
17:22 (IST)
Avesh Khan run out (†Karthik) 5 (3)
17:21 (IST)
Avesh Khan gets a four! Gill drops the catch at deep midwicket and lets the ball roll down to the boundary ropes.
17:21 (IST)
Rishabh Pant run out (sub [KK Nair]/†Karthik) 39 (36)
Pant wanted a single but it wasn't there. He played a full ball to longon and wanted a double there but fell short of his crease.
17:17 (IST)
OUT! Ravichandran Ashwin c Rana b Southee 9
Ashwin gets out trying to pull a slow shot ball to square leg. Words were exchanged between Ashwin and Southee after the dismissal. May be it was about the extra run that DC took in the last over after a throw hit Pant's arm.
Live Score KKR vs DC, IPL 2021, Today's Match: As expected, it was not an easy chase but Kolkata have managed to cross the line in 18.2 overs with three wickets to spare. Two big overs in the middle have done the damage to Delhi. KKR's victory is a big boost to the playoff hopes. Gill, Rana and Narine scoring valuable runs.
Preview: Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KR) Match 41 of IPL 2021 at Sharjah. Expect fireworks as both teams have power-hitters and the Sharjah ground has shorter boundaries as compared to other venues in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
DC are comfortably placed on second. Although they and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have the same points but thanks to the Net Run Rate (NRR), CSK sit atop in the points table.
KKR, on the other hand, have been quite impressive in the second leg of the season, winning two out of the last three matches. They had to face loss in hands of CSK in their last match but there were plenty of positives to take from the loss as well.
Varun Chakravarthy remains key for KKR. But it was also good to see Sunil Narine stepping up in the last match and almost stealing a match for his team from the jaws of defeat.
Venkatesh Iyer, Rahul Tripathi have batted well in this season but captain Morgan would surely want some runs under his belt as well.
As far as DC are concered, they have all their bases covered. Their pace bowling department is arguably the best in the tournament. Shreyas Iyer is looking in good touch as well. DC would want to maintain their winning run when they take on KKR.
