Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will resume the second phase of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on 19 September at Dubai against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings.
So far, the five-time champions have had a decent season, with four wins and three losses in the seven games they played in the first leg of the season.
The good news for MI is that their captain Rohit Sharma is in the best form of his career. He is returning to IPL after having a stellar Test outing in England, where he also scored his first overseas ton.
That century should keep MI in good stead. Rohit suffered a knee issue in the fourth Test but he seems to have recovered from that and can be seen training in his hotel during one-week quarantine.
MI are anyway late bloomers. They start their season in the same manner as they have done in the current season and then continue to rise in the later half of the tournament. This year, the season, is literally divided into two halves so MI cannot waste time trying to find a good run.

The IPL final will be played on 15 October at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The playoffs will also be played at Dubai and Sharjah - Qualifier 1 in Dubai on 10 October, Eliminator in Sharjah on 11 October and Qualifier 2 also in Sharjah on 13 October.
