Finn Allen destroys Pakistan bowling to equal world record with 16 sixes
Finn Allen, the New Zealand opener, destroyed Pakistan’s bowling in the third T20 at Dunedin to equal the world record for most sixes in an innings. The 24-year-old smashed 16 sixes in his innings to equal the world record by Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai as he amassed 137 off 62 deliveries.
Allen’s blitzkrieg helped New Zealand set Pakistan a 225-run target to win as the opener surpassed the previous highest by a New Zealander in T20Is. The record for the highest score in T20Is by a New Zealander was held by Brendon McCullum (123) before Allen broke it.
Allen was brutal against Haris Rauf, smashing him for 27 in one over including three sixes, two fours and a single. In fact, the umpires had to replace balls three times as Allen launched them out of the ground.
He was eventually dismissed by Zaman Khan in the 18th over.
Apart from Allen, Tim Seifert made 31 and Glenn Phillips scored 19.
Pakistan are already 2-0 down in the five-match series.
