Temperature reaches new highs as heatwaves scorch the globe
Heatwaves swept the Northern Hemisphere, with high temperatures from North America, Europe and Asia, prompting a warning for the increasing impacts of global warming. Europe, the world’s fastest-warming continent, could experience its hottest-ever temperature of 48C this week in Italy’s islands of Sicily and Sardinia. Asia also experienced new temperature highs with the reading of 52.2C in China, the hottest-ever recorded.
