‘Scientific’ landfill at Joka to take load off Dhapa
The city is set to have a new waste-dumping ground, with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) embarking on a project to take the load off Dhapa, which has been taking the entire load of the city’s municipal solid waste for decades. The corporation has identified a chunk of land to set up a “scientific” landfill near Joka, which will cater to the waste generated in south Kolkata. e.
