National Skilled Trades Day – May 4, 2022
National Skilled Trades Day is observed annually on the first Wednesday in May. It was established in 2019 by City Machine Technologies in Youngstown, Ohio, to raise awareness about the value of the skilled trades workforce in the United States and honor skilled trades workers.

HISTORY OF NATIONAL SKILLED TRADES DAY
National Skilled Trades Day was created by City Machine Technologies, Inc. to raise awareness about the skilled trades deficit in the United States. It’s also a day to honor essential workers who work as skilled craftsmen.

City Machine Technologies, a family-owned and run repair shop in Ohio, has faced a labor shortage and is worried about the future of their company and others in the manufacturing industry. So rather than waiting for the culture to adapt, City Machine Technologies opted to create change by raising awareness and promoting the skilled trades through promotional events such as National Skilled Trades Day.

The skilled trades group is responsible for keeping the country intact. These are the individuals we call to repair our cars, put in new toilets, construct our homes, collect our blood, and ensure the health of our pets. As a result, honor those who work in skilled trades on the first Wednesday in May.

Many firms across the country are looking for highly qualified people to fill a variety of trades in the healthcare, construction, manufacturing, and service industries. Anyone can learn a variety of vocations ranging from mechanical and construction to medical and cosmetic services.

Whether you want to be a chef or a plumber, work as a medical coder, or help people as an E.M.T., a nursing assistant, or a vet tech, there are many options accessible.

There are also more jobs available than there are workers. As a result, National Skilled Trades Day is crucial both now and in the future. The need for skilled individuals increases as the baby boomers retire quicker than employers can fill vacant positions. Considering the high cost of a college education, which makes it unaffordable for many people, a skilled trade becomes the best alternative.
