As a youngster, Santosh Mahesh Komarpant, who hails from a family of farmers, chose to take up a white-collared job at the public works department (PWD). Several decades later, Komarpant, who is now 52, could no longer see more and more land going fallow in his native village of Devbhag, Canacona.
