Australia defeated India by six wickets in Sunday’s final at the Narendra Modi Stadium to clinch a record sixth ODI World Cup title.

A video of skipper Pat Cummins holding aloft the trophy on the cruise was shared by news agency ANI.

On Sunday, Australia won the toss and opted to field. Their decision to do so did wonders as Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood combined to take seven wickets and dismiss India for 240.

In reply, although Aussies got off to a shaky start, Travis Head (137) and Marnus Labuschagne (58*)  forged a 192-run stand to eventually take Australia home and clinch the title with seven overs to spare.

After the match, Cummins went onto say that winning the World Cup in India was a “huge” achievement.

“That’s huge, I think that’s the pinnacle of international cricket, winning a one-day World Cup. Especially over here in India, in front of a crowd like this,” said Cummins.

“It’s been a big year for everyone… Ashes, the World Test Championship, and top it off with this are just huge and these are the moments that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

“You only get a shot at it every four years. Even if you have a 10-year career, you might only get two chances at it. And yeah, it’s just the whole cricket world stops with this World Cup. So it doesn’t get any better,” added the 30-year-old.
