Rinku Singh added to India 'A' squad for second match against England Lions
Rinku Singh has been included in India ‘A’ squad for the second four-day match against the England Lions, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement on Tuesday. The fixture gets underway on 24 January in Ahmedabad.
The left-hander was part of India’s team in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and then joined Uttar Pradesh, his domestic team, for the Ranji Trophy Round 3 fixture against Bihar in Meerut.
Rinku had been named in the squad for the third multi-day match but has been called up for the second match as well.
In the three T20Is against Afghanistan, Rinku scored 16*, 9* and 69 runs. He then joined his UP teammates for Elite Group B match against Bihar. Played in Meerut, Rinku scored just 10 runs from 8 balls while bowling two overs without a wicket. The fixture was largely affected by adverse weather conditions in north India.
The first match in the three unofficial Tests, also played in Ahmedabad, ended in a high-scoring draw. England Lions scored 553/8d and 163/6d in their two innings while India ‘A’ posted 227 and 426/5 in quest to chase 490 runs.
