India are heavy favourites for the five-match Test series against England which begins on 25 January in Hyderabad. India are on a 16 Tests series winning streak at home and last they lost at home was in 2012. Nonetheless, England under the inspired coaching of Brendon McCullum and with their new playing style of Bazball, will look to repeat the heroics of 2012.
The series also offers the fans to see some of the world class players play against each other including giants like James Anderson and Virat Kohli. Ahead of the Test series, we take a look at the individual milestones that can be set during the series.
Ravichandran Ashwin: The star off-spinner has 490 wickets form 95 Tests and need just 10 more wickets to reach the landmark of 500-Test wickets. Only Anil Kumble from India as crossed that landmark.
Ravindra Jadeja: Ashwin’s partner-in-crime, Jadeja, will looking to push himself into the 3000 runs and 300 wickets club during the series. He currently has 2804 runs to his name and 275 wickets.
Jasprit Bumrah: India’s pace spearhead is inching towards 150-wicket landmark. He currently has 140 wickets in 32 Tests.
Virat Kohli: The former Indian captain needs 152 runs to get to 9000 runs in Test cricket. He will miss the first two Tests but is expected to be back for India from the third match.
James Anderson: The legendary pacer is only 10 wickets away from 700 wickets in Test cricket. The 183-Test veteran will look to make the record as soon as possible which will make him the third bowler in history after Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan to take 700 Test wickets.
Ben Stokes: The England captain is in search of three more wickets to complete 200 Test wickets.
