OUT! Ravichandran Ashwin with the breakthrough, as Ben Duckett is finally dismissed after powering England to a strong start! Bowling from round the wicket, Ashwin angles the ball into the left-hander that holds its line and hits Duckett, who was looking to defend expecting some spin, getting hit on the pad in front of middle. The southpaw goes for the review, and gets ‘Umpire’s Call’ on wickets along with two reds, thus retaining the review.

Jaddu, who starts with a slip and a short leg, is getting some sharp turn right away.

After 7 overs, England 32/0 (Zak Crawley 15, Ben Duckett 15)
First maiden of the day, with just a leg bye getting added to the English total in this over after Crawley decides to set off for the non-striker’s end after a deflection off his thigh pad. Meanwhile, it’s worth noting how good the carry is at Uppal right now, with keeper KS Bharat collecting the ball close to his face on quite a few occasions.

FOUR! Slightly overpitched from Siraj and Duckett decides to bend the left knee and produce a crisp drive through extra cover. Was turning out to be an excellent over from Siraj before that delivery, where he had been bowling slightly shorter along a similar line that the southpaw was mostly choosing to leave alone.

After 5 overs, England 26/0 (Zak Crawley 15, Ben Duckett 11)
India forced to move a fielder out of the slip cordon and at cover with Crawley and Duckett batting like they’re wearing the blue/red jersey instead of white. Duckett tries to score nevertheless, getting an under-edge towards the slips in the first delivery followed by a drive behind point that would have perhaps gone for a boundary had it not been for a superb save by Jadeja. Just one off Bumrah’s third over, the first boundary-free over since the first.

Rohit Sharma: "We want to bat first as well. This looks like a dry pitch. For bowling first, we have the skills and we got the guys to do the job. I am playing for the first time in a five-match series. We have played in these conditions before and know what to do. It's all about executing your skills. We've got three spinners and two seamers."

India captain Rohit Sharma says India are not "unbeatable".
"As far as England is concerned, for us, it'll be important that we stick to our strength, you know, and we do the things that we know how to do. And then obviously the things that we are looking for in this series will be taken care of if we keep doing the right things. But yeah, I wouldn't say we are not beatable. We are. That is how we want to be, we want to think that if we don't step up or if you don't show up, well, we are going to find ourselves in trouble. So we don't want to be doing that. So we want to try and do whatever is possible, whatever is needed in that particular session or on that particular day, we have to do it"

Former India cricketer Venkatapathy Raju feels turning tracks can go against home batters as well.
“It (turning tracks) will be a challenge for Indian batters also, because we already saw in the final when the wicket was slow, they struggled a bit. They’re not playing much on turning tracks in domestic cricket. International players are also playing more outside the country, whether 50-over games or Test matches, they are playing on different wickets and hardly get the time to play domestic cricket on turners."

England cricketer Chris Woakes feels Bazball will hold the team in good stead against a dominating India in Indian conditions.
"India have got some world-class players, they’re a world-class team, and obviously going to India for a five-match series is extremely tough. So, they’re definitely up against it, but the whole ‘Bazball’ so to speak way of playing hopefully will make it difficult for India obviously in their home conditions."

Possible India XI: India have brought in Rajat Patidar as a replacement for Virat Kohli who will be missing the first two Tests. The question is will Patidar make his debut? If India play five bowlers then it looks unlikely as coach Rahul Dravid has also declared that KL Rahul will not be keeping wickets. With Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul and a wicket-keeper, there are already six batters, leaving space for just five bowlers. In case India decide to cut down on one bowler, they can include Patidar.
Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are expected to be the bowlers.

Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium Pitch Report: England picking three specialist spinners is an indication that it is going to be a spin-friendly pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. India need a minimum 4-0 win to go to the top of the WTC points table and they will be looking to play on their strength, which means three spinners including Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar Patel. In such a scenario a spin-friendly pitch is expected. Traditionally, Hyderabad produces a pitch that is suitable for batting but assists spinners with time.

The LIVE coverage starts at 9.30 AM IST. The toss will take place at 9 AM IST. We will bring you all the latest updates here.
India vs England Day 1 LIVE: England’s Bazball style of playing is set to face its toughest Test as they take on India in a five-match Test series, starting from 25 January at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. India are a giant at home, having won the last 16 Test series. In fact their last Test series defeat at home came in 2012, but it as against England and that should give the visitors some comfort. The 2012 England, however, had star players like Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen who could play spin well and spinner like Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar who pun a web around Indian batters.
This time England are largely going to rely on Joe Root who appears to be the only batter in the lineup who has the wherewithal to fight out the Indian attack which will comprise of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. England have also opted for a strange bowling combinations where Mark Wood is the only pacer while they have gone with four spinners. Rehan Ahmed, Tom Hartley, Jack Leach and Root are the four spinners. While Hartley is set for debut, Ahmed has only played a handful of Tests. Leach is the only experienced spinner.
With such an undercooked bowling, at least on the paper, it can prove to be a tough game for England in the first Test. India, on the other hand, are without Virat Kohli who pulled out of the first two Tests due to personal reasons. The batter has been replaced by Rajat Patidar in the squad and it will be interesting to see if he plays. KL Rahul will not keep wickets, this has been confirmed by coach Rahul Dravid, so KS Bharat or Dhruv Jurel can come in which means Patidar may not get a chance. Yashashvi Jaiswal is expected to open with Rohit Sharma, while Shubman Gill will bat at No. 3.
Shreyas Iyer at 4, KL Rahul at 5 and KS Bharat/Dhruv Jurel at 6 could be the possible combination followed by two spin-bowling allrounders in Ashwin and Jadeja, which leaves space for three specialist bowlers. Patidar can play if India decided to bring in an extra batter and only pick two specialist bowler besides Ashwin and Jadeja.
India have a proud record at home in Tests and the series will be about protecting the domination. England look weak in their spin department and with batters who can play spin, but their bold approach to the game in the Bazball era could helped them make up for it. IN such a case the hosts need to be wary of the threat and make sure that they are on the top of the game through out.
