Fight more surgically, limit displacements: US to Israel
The US warns Israel to avoid mass displacement of Palestinians in its military operation against Hamas to prevent a humanitarian crisis. The White House advises Israel to conduct a more surgical approach and not replicate the scale of bombardment in northern Gaza when launching into southern Gaza. The Biden administration's warning comes as the fighting has already displaced most of Gaza's population. US officials have also emphasized the need to maintain the flow of power, water, and the functioning of hospitals and UN-supported shelters.
