The state government has decided to give Rs 1.21 lakh as token amount to resident doctors in the state as an acknowledgement of work during Covid-19. The decision brought relief to doctors, who had gone on strike last week, seeking an academic fee waiver. But the government excluded the batch of around 1,200 junior resident doctors who graduated last month and have been working in Covid wards since the outbreak in March 2020 till June 31, 2021, the end of their residency.
