Chennai: 50 transpeople contribute Rs 1k each to CM fund
Before the pandemic broke out, transwoman Shankari used to eke a living begging on the streets of Chennai. But, for more than a year, the 29-year-old has been depending on the rations doled out by NGOs to sustain herself. Despite her own struggle for survival, Shankari was one of the 50 transpeople in the city who contributed ₹1,000 each to the Chief Minister’s Covid Relief Fund.
