Three members of a family in Salt Lake — each of them fully vaccinated against Covid — caught the infection earlier this month and even needed hospitalisation and intensive care, in a rare occurrence that doctors say is an example of “breakthrough infection”, but which also, importantly, in no way indicates that vaccines are ineffective in the fight against the pandemic.
