15L+ moved in Bengal’s biggest evacuation drive

Bengal carried out its biggest-ever evacuation operation during a natural calamity, with more than 15 lakh people in coastal areas moved to 14,000 relief camps in the 72 hours between Monday and Wednesday. It was largely due to this effort that the loss of life could be minimised (there was just one life lost), even though Cyclone Yaas wreaked havoc on homes and farmlands, said government sources.
